Congratulations to Bob Sandness and Mark Kaye. Bob's majestic photo of the Eta Carinae Nebula took second prize in the inaugural SkyNews astrophotography competition. Mark's shot of the Cygnus Milky Way earned him an Honourable Mention. Andreas Gada had a sequence of eclipse photos published in the June issue of Sky and Telescope. Another of his photos appears in SkyNews.

Walter MacDonald and Doug Clapp spent two weeks under pristine dark skies at Star Hill Inn. See the next issue of AstroTent for more details. Charles Sinsofsky won first prize at the Winter Star Party for his image of the globular cluster Omega Centauri.

Peter Forint and Ted Leckie of Siennasoft demonstrated their wonderful sky simulation software programme "Starry Night" at the NYAA meeting in May. Starry Night has been available to Mac users for several years and now there is a version for PC users. Better late than never. Otmar Eigler showed his finely crafted tangent arm camera mount at the May meeting. Otmar built the aluminium and brass mount over a period of a couple of years, using the machine shops at a local high school.

The club has purchased several eyepieces for the sixteen-inch Dob and the 5-inch AP. There is also an illuminated reticle guiding eyepiece for the refractor. Harold Becker generously donated two Barlows. The eight foot Ash dome and accompanying 12.5 inch Cass will be set up at Oak Heights. Construction activities will take place over several weekends in May and June. Phil Reed will be the Oak Heights observatory coordinator.
