STARFEST 2000
August 24-27, 2000

This year, to celebrate the year 2000, a special program has been prepared with the theme based on the Roman deity, Janus, who presided over new undertakings, gateways and initiations. As we enter the new millennium, we will first look back at astronomy 50 to 100 years ago and then at the major discoveries and events since then that has shaped our understanding of the universe and the nature of astronomy. We will review where we are today, and then speculate on the major breakthroughs that may occur in the next 10 - 20 years, and the impact they may have on mankind. Many different aspects of astronomy will be covered, from scientific to practical observing perspectives, as they relate to the needs and interests of amateur astronomers.

Starfest 2000 features over fifteen presentations and workshops, given by leading professional and amateur astronomers. This year's stellar line up includes: Nagin Cox, Carolyn Collins Petersen, Ray Villard, Doug Welch, Bill Aquina, Gary Billings, Paul Boltwood, and many more. Full details to help you plan your agenda are provided in this program.
