STARFEST 1999: What's New?

Presentations and Workshops

Starfest 1999 features over twenty presentations and workshops, given by leading professional and amateur astronomers. This year's stellar line up includes: Dr. Peter Brown, Peter Ceravolo, Dr. Paul Chodas, Alan Dyer, Dr. Richard Herd, Ken Hewitt-White, Tim Puckett, Steve Dodson, and many more. Full details to help you plan your agenda are provided in this program.

New Brochure Format

The growth of our program over the past few years has required us to adopt a new larger format brochure. We hope you find the new format easier to read and understand. By the way, fan the pages of the brochure quickly to watch the 1998 solar eclipse sequence.

A Larger Children's Tent

We have increased the size of the children's tent to a 30' by 40' free-standing frame tent with 8' high walls. It is made of a white space-age material that reflects the sun's light and heat, and is 100% opaque. The larger tent will be used not only for the children's program on Saturday, but also for other workshops and presentations. The tent will be equipped with ceiling fans to keep the air moving and improve overall comfort.

Astrotent For Kids

At last year's Starfest we launched a kids' version of Astrotent. This was well received and will be continued in an expanded format this year. We invite your children to submit articles, drawings and photographs for this year's edition of Astrotent For Kids.
