KIDFEST '96

Is a special program aimed at giving children who attend STARFEST an opportunity to learn a little more about "what's up there". The program will be held on Saturday in the small tent. The following activities are planned:

10:00 - 10:20 am Ages 3,4,5 Earth, Moon and Sun *
A talk about the earth, moon and sun. After the talk, the children will use construction paper and crayons to draw planets and comets.

10:30 - 11:00 am Ages 6,7,8 Constellations and the Night Sky *
After a short talk about the constellations the children will participate in making planispheres showing the summer constellations.

11:10 - 12:00 am Ages 9 & up Star Clusters **
A talk about open and globular star clusters, their relative distance and sizes. The children will be shown, with the use of sand, the number of stars in a globular cluster and will be able to construct their own "star cluster" using styrofoam balls and toothpicks.

* Parent or Guardian participation mandatory.
** Parent or Guardian participation recommended.
