Dr. Peter Brown (Prospects for a Leonid Meteor Storm in 1999) recently earned his doctorate from the University of Western Ontario in the area of Meteor Physics. He has been studying meteor astronomy at UWO for the past 7 years and has been an active meteor observer for over a decade. His particular interests in meteor studies include the computational evolution of meteoroid streams, radar studies, the sporadic meteoroid complex and studies of the interaction of metre-sized bodies with the Earth's atmosphere.

This talk will discuss the prospects of a Leonid meteor storm in 1999 on the basis of numerical modelling of meteoroid evolution after release from comet Tempel-Tuttle. The major aspects of Leonid stream evolution will be discussed in an effort to reconcile past observations with our physical understanding of the stream. A summary of recent observational results, particularly the 1998 Leonid campaign, will also be given.
