Paul Markov (Effective Deep Sky Observing), has been observing deep sky objects for 21 years. This year he will be celebrating his 20th consecutive Starfest, and will most likely log his 1000th deep sky object at this year's gathering. Other interests include organizing Members' Night meetings for the RASC Toronto Centre, and operating the Canada-wide Astronomy Buy & Sell web site.
Paul will discuss how to prepare for a deep sky observing session and ensure a productive night of observing. He will cover topics such as preparing an observing list, star atlases and map overlays, a good finder, wide field eyepieces, understanding and calculating field of view, tips for seeing better and more at the eyepiece, and more. Some of the lesser known tips and tricks will be of interest to experienced observers. Whether you star hop or use "goto" telescopes this presentation will be of interest to you.
