Paul Mortfield, "Deep Sky Imaging from your Urban Backyard," Main Tent, Friday 11:00 a.m., has been imaging the sky for almost 40 years. His images have appeared in Sky & Telescope magazine, NASA publications, plus several books and newspapers. His Comet Hale-Bopp portraits were featured on the CBS Evening News. Paul uses his backyard observatory in North York for research projects and photography.

With a combination of CCD cameras, filters and processing techniques, amateurs can successfully image faint deep sky targets from the convenience of their light-polluted backyards. Paul will demonstrate the steps involved in achieving spectacular images under these less-than-ideal sky conditions.
