by Andreas Gada Each year we work hard to improve the quality of the conference by adding more activities or fine tuning existing activities to better meet your needs. We appreciate your comments and welcome them at any time. The STARFEST hosts and hostesses, wearing purple STARFEST T-Shirts, are here to assist you. This year we have dramatically expanded our program by adding four new activities, while maintaining costs. On Friday afternoon a four hour workshop has been added to enable in-depth coverage of a specific topic: CCD imaging. In future years other topics such as astronomical computing, telescope making and astrophotography will be covered. On Saturday afternoon the amateur telescope maker's exhibition was added to enable ATM's to display their telescopes and exchange ideas about telescope making. On Sunday morning a meeting of the Telescope Makers Association, an affiliate of the NYAA, will be held. Everyone is welcome to attend. This group has been formed to address the special needs and interests of amateur telescope makers. The Red Light Cafe will be operating in the recreation hall on Friday and Saturday nights to provide a place to get warmed up and to chat with friends. Although we have substantially expanded our program this year we would have liked to have added several other activities, such as a children's program and more topics for beginners, but could not because we did not have the manpower to do so. If anyone is interested in volunteering their time to make these or any other activity happen we would appreciate hearing from you. |
