Save $ on
Astronomy, Sky & Telescope

by Norm Folkers

Now that I have your attention, here is how you can save money when you start or renew your subscriptions to Astronomy or Sky and Telescope.

To get the savings, the publishers want to avoid overhead work (and costs). That's where the NYAA plays a role. The club will collect monies from its members and forward a single payment along with all subscription information on a periodic basis. The publisher's paperwork is reduced allowing them to offer club members special rates. A minimum of five subscriptions for each magazine is required to initiate this offer. Here are the pertinent details for a one year subscription:

Monthly 1 yr. regular 1 yr. NYAA
              news stand subscription subscription

Purchase with GST+PST GST GST

Astronomy $51.75 $53.20 $35.96
Sky & Tel. $62.16 $50.93 $41.94
All amounts above are in Canadian dollars using an exchange rate of 1.40. PST is not paid on subscriptions.

You could save as much as $36.01 by getting your subscriptions through the NYAA.

To order, when you receive your renewal notice or want an initial subscription, send the completed subscription form for either magazine with a cheque to the Treasurer of the NYAA. Please contact the treasurer for the exact amount. The treasurer will do the rest.

An excellent time to make your renewal payments could be when you submit your renewal to the NYAA. That way the money you saved on the magazine(s) can go a long way towards your NYAA renewal! (See "Dues R Due" elsewhere in this issue of Astrotent.) Please note that magazine renewals do not need to wait till your subscription is nearly expired. It can be made with your NYAA membership renewal to extend your present subscription.

In addition to reduced subscription prices, NYAA members get additional discounts on Kalmbach and Sky Publishing products. Just mention the club name at the time you place your order.

Membership in the CLUB does have its privileges!
