Sandness Technology Inc.: Bob Sandness (CCD's and Autoguider Fundamentals, Solar Eclipse Wrap-up) is an electrical engineer who recently started his own company (STI) and has previously worked for Hewlett Packard and Intel Corporation. His astronomy interests include astrophotography, asteroid hunting and solar eclipse chasing.

Although autoguiders have revolutionized astrophotography, the first generation of autoguiders have a number of limitations which have made them difficult to use, especially for first time users. On Friday, Bob will talk about CCD and autoguider fundamentals, and explain how advances in CCD chips have spawned a new generation of autoguiders, including one he has developed himself.

Because of its location, February's solar eclipse was seen by thousands of people. Some went on organized trips that were booked months in advance to ensure their place "in the sun". Others waited until the last minute to pick up a low cost trip and do their own thing. On Saturday, Bob will talk about his "last minute club" adventure to Aruba to see the total solar eclipse.
