Peter Ceravolo (Modern Astrographic Photography) is a professional optician and an experienced astrophotographer. In 1996 he built a high-end astrograph to enable him to capture hundreds of breathtaking images of Comet Hyakutake. These images were combined by Doug George to create a beautiful time lapse video "Comet Odyssey" showing the motion within the comet's tail as it travelled across the sky (product info: www.cyanogen.com).
In this presentation, Peter will discuss the advances in astrophotographic techniques and equipment over the past century. He will then talk about a family of new astrographic telescopes that have been ignored by astrophotographers for too long. These new astrographs offer greater speed and wider fields on large film formats than are currently available.
