SPEAKERS

Glenn LeDrew (Introduction to Astrophotography) is an accomplished astrophotographer who has traveled to the ends of the world to observe and photograph deep sky wonders. He lives in Ottawa, where he runs an astronomical business called, The Starry Room, which features a Starlab planetarium and utilizes his own unique all-sky photographic projector. He travels throughout the province giving planetarium shows to schools and special interest groups (he may be emailed at ).

In this presentation Glenn will help you start off on the right foot in your skyshooting adventures. He will introduce basic tools and techniques such as choice of camera and film, the utility of ordinary lenses, determining exposure times and methods to support the camera. Starting with simple tripod photography, the discussion will progress to manual and motor-driven mounts that track the sky, including a "barndoor" tracker, that you can build yourself. The more exacting methods of imaging through the telescope will be covered last.
