SPEAKERS

Robert Gendler ("The Hybrid Image: A New Frontier in Aesthetic Imaging", Main Tent, Friday 8:00 p.m.; "Advances in Aesthetic CCD Imaging" Main Tent, Saturday 10:00 a.m.) was introduced to astronomy at the Hayden Planetarium in New York. However, it wasn't until moving to Connecticut that he became serious about astronomy. In 1996, Robert decided to try astrophotography with a 10" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and a CCD camera. The results have been stunning, with images appearing regularly in Astronomy, Sky & Telescope, and SkyNews Magazines, as well as frequently on the Astronomy Picture of the Day web page.

On Friday evening, in a fairly technical presentation, Robert will share with us his philosophy of imaging and how it evolved. He will showcase many of his amazing images.

On Saturday, Robert will cover basic CCD concepts with a slide show of his images to illustrate these concepts.
