John Percy ("Pro-Am Research Partnerships: A Universe of Possibilities", Main Tent, Friday 3:30 p.m.) is Professor of Astronomy (and of Education) at the University of Toronto, a researcher on variable stars and stellar evolution, and a past president of several organizations which promote pro-am partnership: the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, the American Association of Variable Star Observers, and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. His many awards include the 1996 Astronomical League Award for his contributions to amateur astronomy.

John will provide a general overview and specific examples of the variety of present and future possibilities of pro-am partnership, including: variable star observation, data-mining, and analysis; the work of the American Astronomical Society's Working Group on Pro-Am Partnership; and connections to student research and to Canada's MOST satellite.
