SPEAKERS

Dave Lane, Nova Astronomics "Recent Developments with the ECU planetarium software and the new Abbey Ridge Auto-Pilot Software", Small Tent, Friday, 10:00 a.m., has been into astronomy since high school, dabbling in just about every aspect of the hobby. At his day-job he takes care of high-performance computers used for astrophysics research and at his evening-job he runs Nova Astronomics, a business that develops the Earth Centered Universe planetarium software.

Dave first talked about the Earth Centered Universe (ECU) planetarium and telescope control software at Starfest over 10 years ago. This talk will demo some recent updates made to it, but will mainly concentrate on a new program which automates observatory, telescope, dome, and CCD camera functions using a simple and easy to learn scripting language. It is planned that this program will be available at low (or no) cost before the end of the year.
